Southwest Veterinary Hospital takes pride in providing care to the hardworking canines of local law enforcement departments. These include: Bakersfield Police Department, Kern County Sheriff's Department, Kern Valley State Prison, and the Bakersfield Probation Department. Additionally, our own Dr. Rose Rakow is Board President of Bakersfield SPCA and an adjunct professor of the Technician Program at Bakersfield College.
We proudly support a number of local efforts, such as countywide rabies clinics; Bakersfield SPCA, Animal Care Center, and Animal Control; Kern County's Humane Society, Animal Shelter, Animal Control and Friends of Kern County; the Wasco Animal Shelter; The Cat People; and Alpha K9 Sanctuary.
We care about your experience with us. We are constantly looking to improve, and your feedback helps us get better every day! Here's what your neighbors have been saying about us since 1949.
I can't say enough good about the staff and the Docs here. I have a Shih tzu with Cushings and allergies. The vets there are so kind and patient. The staff are always friendly and efficient.. ( even when computers go down). I highly recommend taking your fur family there... Special thanks. To Mariah, Dena, Dr. Love and Dr.Holland.. Great vets, great staff, and even better human beings.
We love Dr Pendley! She has taken such good care of our two large dogs and they love seeing her. She is very attentive and knowledgable. She provides great care and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this office and Dr Pendley.
We really love the staff and facilities here! I have an English Bulldog who are known to have constant health issues. The doc came up with a nice plan of action and even considers the impact on my wallet when deciding the best path to take. When we walk in the door we are always pleasantly greeted by the staff who always recognize my dog, Belle. We have also boarded Belle here too and she's always happy, clean and healthy when we pick her up!
